THE RICHEST VEIN –
Eastern Tradition and Modern Thought

Protests, criticism, opposition– these were never more necessary than today, and there was never a better moment than the present one for bringing home to people the realization that the troubles to which our world is a subject and the disasters with which it is threatened are only the symptoms of a deeper disease; and because so many of the remedies proposed lead only further into the desert and only accentuate the tendencies which have brought us to this point, it was never more necessary to emphasize that there are other ways of living than our own and to make audible the distant voices of those who, in time past, took another road, unbeguiled by the promise of ease and enrichment in return for the surrender of their ancient heritage. It is a book on Eastern religions and their influence upon Western thinkers; a profound analysis of the most urgent concerns and questions facing us. Contrasting modern, secular society with religion and tradition in general and with Islam in particular, Gai Eaton clarifies the essential need for spirituality, religion and values based on eternal principles and illustrates the subtle harmony of a religious perspective and its ability to transform both the individual and society. A total rejection of the past cannot be the basis for the future and that a true link with Heaven modifies all the decisions and actions of society.
