A TRANSLATION OF THE MEANING OF THE NOBLE QUR’ĀN – The First American Version

A work of some twenty-five years of study and research, this is the first North American translation of the Qur’an. This is a remarkable effort to interpret the meaning of the Divine Word for the contemporary man. The translation is presented in a flowing and lilting prose that is thoroughly modern and relates to the contemporary man’s socio-cultural and literary sensibility. It makes the Qur’an accessible to all English-speaking readers, while retaining the poetic beauty of the original, through spinning a veneer of transparent and simple English that lets the original message gush forth, with so much meaning and so much awe. The result has been a document accessible to an understanding mind and mellifluous to the heedful soul. The Noble Qur’dn effectively deploys all the typographical and compositional resources of the present-day American English. Sometimes many sentences, or even more than one paragraph, relate one verse from the original. Sometimes many verses are carried over in a single sentence. The gigantic flow of the original continuum is organically sustained in the translation.
